Database Test Plan

Posted by ldhurst at 2005-11-30 03:51 PM
Do you have, or know of, a comprehensive database test plan? I'm in the process of developing a database test plan template that can be used for our Oracle databases. I'll probably clone it for other dbms's we have but right now I'm focusing on Oracle, specifically for a 10g 2-node RAC environment on Win 2003 Server. Some of the sections I'm thinking of are: Security, RAC, Failover, Query Performance, Backup & Recovery.

Looking!

When I first read this question, I thought that although I don't have a checklist, this should be something easy to find. After looking, this may be harder than I thought. We all know that we should be testing basic database functionality (startup/shutdown, export/import, backup/recovery, SQL load utility, Enterprise Manager, SQL*PLUS, listener connectivity, etc) before beginning application testings but I don't have a checklist. Now that you ask, it seems odd that this is hard to find.
