Mike Smith is a global marketing and technology director with 30 years of experience in the high tech industry, and a decade of internet strategy and operations experience. He is currently responsible for E-Business and Internet strategy at BMC Software. He also consults with the venture capital, entertainment, and media industries. He recently was accepted as a member of the CMO Council. His career has included technology and marketing positions at companies including Cirrus Logic, where he was responsible for re-inventing their global online communications, E-business strategy, and for establishing a presence in both China and Japan. Motorola, where he served in a variety of strategic planning, product line management and was director of Global Internet Marketing. He launched one of the industries first internet radio stations as part of a global brand strategy while at Motorola; and Dell Computer Corporation, where he was director of network systems and technology. As director of network systems at Zenith Corporation he built a multi-million dollar global business division. Mike spent two years as a senior consultant with Price-WaterHouse-Coopers consulting organization, focusing on networking, telecommunications, and information technology. He was at Texas Instruments for 10 years and did work with NASA, the defense department, and other government and commercial companies in the area of network technology, human visualization, artificial intelligence, expert systems, and knowledge management.
