Locking Schema Statistics

Posted by cfoot at 2006-01-02 07:58 AM
Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I have been on a long vacation.

Oracle allows you to "lock" statistics for a table or an entire schema. Once statistics are locked, no modifications can be made to those statistics until the statistics have been unlocked.

The DBMS_STATS package provides LOCK_SCHEMA_STATS and LOCK_TABLE_STATS to lock statistics in place and UNLOCK_SCHEMA_STATS, UNLOCK_TABLE_STATS to free them.
