Les King began working with DB2 on the open platforms in 1992 as a member of the customer support team for the first versions. He’s spent time as a developer on DB2 and as a member of the release team, managing the releases of DB2. Les’s management career began back in the customer support team in 1996 and he also spent several years managing various development teams for DB2, including the install team and the application development interface teams. Les then became the planning manager and has had responsibility for the Information Development team. Les is now the program director for portfolio management of the data servers, within Information Management.

Paul C. Zikopoulos, BA, MBA, is an award-winning writer and speaker with the IBM Database Competitive Technologies team. He has more than ten years of experience with DB2 products and has written numerous magazine articles and books about it. Paul has co-authored the books: DB2 Version 8: The Official Guide, DB2: The Complete Reference, DB2 Fundamentals Certification for Dummies, DB2 for Dummies, and A DBA’s Guide to Databases on Linux®. Paul is a DB2 Certified Advanced Technical Expert (DRDA and Cluster/EEE) and a DB2 Certified Solutions Expert (Business Intelligence and Database Administration). Currently he is writing a book on the Apache Derby/IBM Derby database.
