VA Loses Another Laptop VA Loses Another Laptop

No, even though it may seem like it, this is not old news. Yet another laptop goes missing at the Veterans Administration.
Computerworld reports today that another VA laptop has gone missing. Accordinding to the report:

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs yesterday announced that a laptop containing the personal information on 38,000 veterans is missing from the office of Unisys Corp., the subcontractor hired to assist in insurance collection for the VA's medical centers in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.

I can't say I'm surprised, but this really is unacceptable. Things were looking up (see Feds Looking to Toughen Data Breach Notification Reqs), but here we have the same thing happening all over again (see More Data Stolen). Even though the laptop and data from the earlier breach was recovered without an actual "breach" (see Stolen VA Data Recovered), is it too much to ask that our government learn from its mistakes?
